Sewing Basics for Kids (Beginner Friendly) Ages 8–12

This six-class series introduces young makers to the art of sewing through creative, hands-on projects. Students will learn both hand-sewing and machine-sewing techniques while building confidence, coordination, and problem-solving skills. Each class focuses on a specific skill set, and by the end of the series, students will have completed several finished projects—including their own fully assembled drawstring bag.

Students will:

• Learn sewing safety and basic tool use  

• Practice threading needles, sewing buttons, and hand-stitching  

• Trace, cut, and assemble simple patterns  

• Learn to thread and operate a sewing machine
