Origami requires hand-eye coordination, develops fine-motor skills and supports mental concentration – all of which stimulate the brain. As kids follow instructions through the paper-folding challenges, they engage both the motor and visual areas of their brain. Bonus: They're using both the left and right hemispheres of their brain simultaneously, blending logic with creativity! Dual activation is essential for proper brain development, simulating our minds while building imagination, memory and 3D perception.
Students will:
Learn basic paper folding symbols and techniques
Proceed to make fish, crabs, clams, jellyfish, dragonflies, pandas, koalas, tigers, parrots, cranes, and more (depending on and tailored to individual abilities)
Many people find zen while they are doing Origami. It lends itself well to mindfulness because it inherently encourages you to go slowly and focus on the present.
